We run a factory on software we mostly write ourselves — the order book, the cut plan, the inspection records and the client portal all sit in one system. You would own whole slices of it rather than tickets from someone else's backlog, and you would talk to the people who use it every day rather than to a product manager relaying them.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the internal tools that run order intake, costing, cut planning and inspection records.
- Design the data model behind a program — style, colorway, size, lot — so that a number means the same thing in every screen it appears on.
- Integrate with the ERP and with client systems: purchase orders in, ASNs and inspection reports out.
- Take a feature from the first conversation with the people on the floor through to something in production, including the part where you watch someone use it.
- Keep the deployment, the backups and the on-call story boring.
Required qualifications
- Three or more years building and shipping production software, with examples you can talk through in detail.
- Strong in one server-side language and comfortable in SQL against a relational database.
- Enough front-end to build a usable interface without waiting for someone else.
- Able to work independently across time zones and to write things down clearly, because most of the team is not at your desk.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred, not required
- Experience with manufacturing, ERP, WMS or supply-chain systems.
- Having been the first or second engineer somewhere, and having lived with the consequences.
- Spanish, for talking directly with the production floor.
You get finished goods out of the building and to the customer with the paperwork right the first time. Domestic and export shipments both run through you, and a document error costs more days than a delayed truck ever does.
Responsibilities
- Book and track outbound freight — parcel, LTL, full container and air — and hold carriers to the transit times they quoted.
- Prepare export documentation in house: commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and customs paperwork.
- Set carton-ready packing specifications with each client and check that finishing has followed them before a shipment is released.
- Consolidate shipments where it saves the client money, and say so when it does not.
- Keep the shipment tracker current so that anyone can answer “where is it” without asking you.
- Reconcile freight invoices against the rates quoted, and chase the difference.
Required qualifications
- Two or more years in freight, export or fulfillment coordination, in apparel or another goods business.
- Working knowledge of export documentation and Incoterms, with real shipments behind it.
- Comfortable in spreadsheets and in a TMS or ERP shipping module.
- Organized enough to hold every open shipment in a system rather than in your head.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred, not required
- Customs brokerage or freight-forwarder experience.
- Experience shipping into European and UK customers.
- Spanish for the production floor.
